III Congreso Columbiano de Zoologia

The Colombian Association of Ornithology (ACO) is pleased to announce the III Colombian Ornithological Congress (III COC) in conjunction with the III Colombian Congress of Zoology, with support from Conservation International Colombia and other institutions. The III COC will be held at the Centro de Convenciones Plaza Mayor, MedellĂ­n, between 21-26 November 2010. Proposals for symposia are invited before 15 February 2010 at ornitologiacolombiana@yahoo.com or simposios@iiicongresocolombianozoologia.org. The closing date for sending abstracts is 30 March 2010, and abstracts acceptance notification is 30 June 2010. Gyrfalcons and ptarmigan in a changing world

The Peregrine Fund has announced the international conference, “Gyrfalcons and Ptarmigan in a changing world,” which will be held in Boise, Idaho from 1-3 February 2011. Boise State University and the U.S. Geological Survey will co-host the meeting. Scientists, land managers, policy analysts, and other conservationists from around the world are invited to explore evidence for a range of environmental changes (climate, contaminants, disease, development) in Arctic ecosystems with a focus on the Gyrfalcon and its principal prey, ptarmigan, as models of predator-prey relationships. The conference aims to predict effects and outcomes of global climate change on Arctic predators and prey, identify areas of uncertainty, and develop global strategies for measuring and mitigating them. The proceedings of the conference will be published.

2011 Raptor Research Foundation Annual Conference

The Natural Resources Research Institute and Department of Biology at the University of Minnesota-Duluth will host the 2011 RRF conference from 5-9 October at the Radisson Hotel Duluth-Harborview in downtown Duluth, Minnesota. Co-hosts include Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory and Duluth Audubon. Organizers: Dr. Gerald J. Niemi, (University of Minnesota-Duluth) and Dr. Matthew Etterson (US EPA Mid-Continent Ecology Division). IXth Neotropical Ornithological Congress

The Neotropical Ornithological Society (NOS) and the Peruvian Ornithological Union (UNOP) are pleased to announce the IXth Neotropical Ornithological Congress and VIIIth National Ornithological Congress to be held in the city of Cusco, Peru rom 8-14 November 8-14 2011. The scientific program will include plenary lectures, symposia sessions, oral and poster presentations, and round table discussions. The congress officers are: the Secretary General, Grace P. Servat (grace.servat@gmail.com) and the Chair of Local Committee, Constantino Aucca (caucca@ecoanperu.org), in cooperation with the Neotropical Ornithological Society and the Peruvian Ornithological Union.
